How To Choose The Perfect Sunglasses

If you’re looking to buy new sunglasses which ones do you choose? There’s so many options; big, small, square, round, black, red? The list goes on. The good news is it’s easy to find the perfect sunglasses when you know what you’re looking for. There are 2 key things to identify before you begin your search for new shades:

  1. You want to know your face shape. We suggest looking at a photo or taking a selfie to determine your face shape. Generally, your perfect sunglasses will be the opposite to your face shape.
  2. You want to make sure the sunglasses you’re buying are made from quality materials. It’s simply not worth the risk. For a few extra dollars you get peace of mind knowing you’re fully protected against harmful UV damage.

Now that you’ve got your face shape it's time to find your perfect sunglasses. We’ve put together the below guide to help you identify which styles suit your face shape.

Fun fact: Research has found that 75% of people are concerned about UV damage to their eyes, yet only 31% wear sunglasses when they go outside. credit

Square Face

You have a square face if you have a strong jaw that’s basically the same width as your forehead. Your perfect sunglasses will soften the strong features of your face and balance everything out. Look for sunglasses with soft round frames. They don’t have to be completely round, but you want to avoid sharp angles and square frames at all costs.

Round Face

A round face is wide across the cheekbones and narrow across the forehead and chin. Your perfect sunglasses are rectangular and will offset the roundness of your face. Almost giving the illusion that your face is more angular than it actually is.

Long Face

A long face is significantly longer than it is wide. Your perfect sunglasses will not extend wider than the widest part of your face. You don’t want your face to look any slimmer by making this mistake. Those in the long face category are fortunate enough to be able to choose between square and round styles, as either shape will compliment their face.

Triangular Face

You have a triangular face if your forehead is a lot wider than your chin. Your perfect sunglasses will be square in shape to balance out your features. We recommend looking at styles that are slightly wider at the top of the frame than they are at the bottom of the frame.
